Rosie Kilcoyne
Blue Parks Science Intern
Rosie is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio and has a background in international relations, ocean policy, and environmental justice. She earned her B.A. in Government and French from Colby College, where she was interested in comparative politics and the impacts of climate change on global communities. While living in La Réunion, Rosie became interested in marine conservation and environmental justice after witnessing how climate change and overfishing impact marine ecosystems and coastal communities in the Indian Ocean. To enable her to better support coastal communities and protect marine biodiversity, she decided to pursue a Master of Public Policy at Duke University, where she studied environmental policy and marine conservation. Her Master’s Project examined whether preferential access areas for small-scale fisheries could be counted towards global conservation goals of protecting 30% of ocean area by 2030. Rosie is excited to support the Blue Parks team and help promote effective marine protected areas around the world. When she’s not working on ocean conservation projects, Rosie enjoys cycling, yoga, and spending as much time outside as possible.
