Global Marine Protected Area Workforce Study—2025

For MPA managers: Define your MPA workforce by filling out this questionnaire—your insights will help guide the path to 30x30!

Help us:

understand the people actively contributing to reach the objectives of individual marine protected areas

envision how the MPA workforce must grow and change as the number of global MPAs increases.

As the world moves toward protecting 30% of the ocean by 2030, Blue Nature Alliance, Marine Conservation Institute (MPAtlas), eOceans and Leibniz-IZW have partnered to understand the MPA workforce — this includes staff employees, and others who have a formal role actively contributing to achieving the goals of a specific MPA.

This study aims to create a clear picture of the workforce behind current MPAs and give us an idea of what may be needed as the number of MPAs grows.

Here’s how it works:

PART A: Let’s identify your MPA. (2 questions)

PART B: Tell us about this MPA. (4 questions)

PART C: Tell us about you. (5 questions)

PART D: Tell us more, refer others. (2 optional questions)

Your input is invaluable to this study and will provide crucial insights for other’s working on MPAs like you. Connect to the questionnaire here.
