Bea San Juan
Marine Protection Atlas Intern
Bea is originally from Spain and the Philippines and has spent much of her life near the ocean, inspiring her passion for marine conservation. She earned a B.S in Environmental Science from St. John's University and recently completed her M.S in Environmental Science and Policy at Pace University. For her capstone project, she wrote about offshore wind cables in the proposed Hudson Canyon National Marine Sanctuary in collaboration with the Wildlife Conservation Society. Bea has interned with Riverkeeper, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting the Hudson River, and BRAC USA, an organization based in Bangladesh that helps the poor. Bea is currently volunteering at the New York Aquarium where she gets to help care for the sharks and rays in the exhibits. Through her academic experience, Bea has cultivated deep knowledge and interest in Marine Protected Areas and is eager to help advance conservation efforts.
